Today is my birthday, March 11. I celebrated my birthday in a rather unusual way because I spent my day with a touch of showbiz. :) I usually spend my birthday on a self-retreat. I consider my birthday a time to contemplate about myself and my life that has been rather than feast on food or spend time with friends, which I do 360 days a year. Being an avid enthusiast of that TV program, I've been wanting to watch it live and experience what is like watching a live TV program. On this day, that desire materialized. I enjoyed the experience despite the long hours of being there waiting and participating in a lively audience. If you're writing a Vision-Mission Statement, here's a simple guide on how to write one. Writing a Vision-Mission Statement is a process. If you're writing one for a company or organization, you need to get your people involved in the process. Tree barks can be used to clean polluted water according to a study conducted by Jennifer Tamayo of Department of Science and Techonology (DOST-FPRDI) in Los Banos, Laguna. The tree barks, which are considered wastes, can now be used to absorb atomic particles of lead and chromium. They can remove 96%-100% lead and 84%-90% chromium from a polluted water. It is the tannin, lignin, organic acid, and cellulose content of the barks that make these barks trap lead and chromium. Lead and chromium are known to be harmful to humans. Lead is poisoning while chromium is listed as a cancer-causing agent. The tree barks that make good anti-pollutants come from the following trees: acacia, bagras, river red gum, gubas, moluccan, sau, kaatoan bangkal, and yemane. This is good news for all of us. I hope someday, we'd be able to see clean rivers again. Are there tree barks that clean corruption in politics?

Its pages are becoming unknown, forgotten. As a kid in school, I learned about legends (alamat), fables (pabula), parables (parabula), epics (epiko), riddles (bugtong), etc. I know at least two novels: "Noli Me Tangere" and "El Filibusterismo" by Jose Rizal; and one epic, "Florante at Laura" by Francisco Baltazar. When I asked my nephews and nieces about Philippine "alamat", they knew not a story. Thanks to the TV program "Mahiwagang Baul". They've had, at least, a glimpse of "alamat" stories. Together with the dying Philippine literature is the Tagalog language (and other Pilipino languages). Colonial mentality is killing the Pilipino languages.
